Assign pickup and confirm the collection handoff
Pickup assignment identifies the operator responsible for collecting shipments. It is distinct from the transporter responsible for final delivery.
Overview
Pickup assignment identifies the operator responsible for collecting shipments. It is distinct from the transporter responsible for final delivery.
Information, statuses and handoffs
The vendor supplies the merchant context and recipient information, while the company and its assigned operational teams process the shipment. Check the customer phone, address, product quantities and amounts before sending an order into operations. A correctly entered address does not replace the organizational and route assignment shown on the shipment.
Order views include validation, transit, hub handling, roadmap or pickup work, delivery, completion and return stages. Suspended, canceled and deleted views identify different exceptions. The status history matters: two orders with similar customer information may be separate shipments at different stages. Use the barcode as the primary reference when contacting another team or asking the assistant for an exact page.
In forward bag preparation, only orders in transit or in hub are eligible. Return bags accept the supported in-hub and return stages. The order must belong to the bag’s company, match any assigned destination agency, have no current bag and be held at the bag’s preparation location. If a parcel fails these checks, inspect its current assignment instead of changing unrelated information to force it into a bag.
Steps
- Open the relevant order stage and select the shipments that should be collected together. Check the vendor and physical collection location before opening Attach to pickup.
- Read the review of eligible and blocked orders. Expand the reasons for blocked records rather than assuming the full selected count will be assigned.
- Choose the pickup transporter from the available list. Review the Free pickup switch: enable it only when a free collection is intended; otherwise retain the standard pickup pricing.
- Confirm the assignment and reopen the affected records to check the pickup information and current stage. Coordinate the actual collection with the vendor and assigned transporter through Messages.
- When the pickup work is completed, use the available confirmation or barcode action for that stage and inspect the resulting status. The next active stage depends on company workflow configuration.
Good to know
A pickup assignment does not mean the parcel has physically been collected or delivered. If a required stage is disabled or an order is blocked, keep the existing reference and ask the responsible operations team to review the workflow.
